A total of 16 aspirants have picked expression of interest forms to contest for the East African Legislative Assembly slot on the NRM ticket today.

This brings the total number of people seeking to replace the late Mathias Kasamba who died earlier this year to 26.

Among those that have picked expression of interest forms today include Prof Mondo Kagonyera, Dr Sarah Nkonge, Faridah Mayanja and former state minister for East African Affairs Julius Maganda.

The NRM EC chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi says the names of these aspirants will be sent to the party’s Central Executive Committee for vetting.
