The Ministry of Health has temporarily suspended holding of workshops in hotels to minimize cost.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine has advised the ministry staff to instead hold such meetings and conferences within hospitals’ designated places.

She says they have discussed this issue with stakeholders including donors as one of the ways to ensure efficient use of resources. ” we do not want to hare these things of capacity building in hotels if you want to do it here in the  hospital, those things must stop, and even in the ministry the know my stand on  this one, we must optimize recourses to the people who need them.” Dr. Diana Atwine said.

She made the remarks while officiating at the launch of the advocacy campaign against Preeclampsia.

Preeclampsia is a condition characterized by high blood pressure during pregnancy.

She noted with great concern that several mothers have continued to die due to this condition because of delayed antenatal care.
