Muslim Community in Acholi Sub Region have called for the immediate release of Sheikh Swadique Thabit Mustafa.
The Amuru County Sheikh is reportedly being detained by the South Sudanese army on July 17th this year, while he went to lead Eid al fitir prayers in Nimule town in Southern Sudan.

According to the Acholi Muslim Khadi, Sheikh Musa Khelil, there have agreements between the Muslims in Amuru district and those in Nimule town to freely hold prayers within the two regions.

He noted that unclear circumstances that could have brewed misunderstandings led to the arrest of the sheikh on suspicion that he is a rebel.

The Deputy Regional Police Commander, Aziku Zata says they were unaware of the development but promised to follow it up.
