African Union Mission in Somalia, has mourned the death of their first Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Ambassador Nicolas Bwakira.

In a statement, Ambassador Francisco Madeira, Head of the Mission described Ambassador Bwakira as a true African who strategically positioned the Mission for tasks in every trying moments.

He said that AMISOM will always remember Ambassador Bwakira for his mediatory role between the Federal Government of Somalia and other Somali stakeholders.

Ambassador Nicolas Bwakira, from Burundi died suddenly of a yet to be known cause.
