By Malik Fahad.

Just a day after a police officer shot dead three people before turning the gun on himself in Katakwi district, another has shot two people during a land survey exercise in Sembabule.

The shocking incident occurred at Nkonge village, in Makole parish, Kyela Sub County when a police officer who was guarding surveyors shot dead the duo after they attacked the team.

The deceased have been identified as Joseph Engule, and Tabu Egesa both residents of Nkonge village on the embattled mailo land.

Lameck Kigozi the southern region police spokesperson says preliminary investigations indicate the family of the late Joseph Lumansi the owner of the land had secured a court order to have it surveyed and evict all encroachers.

The decision to survey the land however, did not go down well with some of the encroachers who then decided to attack the surveyors and police officers that were providing security to them during the exercise.

Kigozi says the deceased were armed with spears and arrows when they attempted to grab a gun from the police officer.
