Census enumeration commences in army barracks

The Census enumeration exercise of UPDF Officers under 4Infantry Division has been flagged off at its Head Quarters in Gulu by Colonel Innocent Tukashaba, the Division Operations and Training Officer on behalf of the Division Commander Brigadier Michael Kabango.
Col Tukashaba said the exercise will be conducted in all affiliated units and formations operating under 4Infantry Division Headquarters, its Brigade and Battalion Headquarters.
He urged commanders in their respective units to mobilize personnel and their families living in the barracks to take part in the exercise.
According to Captain Ahmad Hassan Kato UPDF 4Infantry Division Public Information Officer, this is the first time 4Infantry Division is participating in a census following an agreement between the UPDF-Ministry of Defense (UPDF-MOD) and UBOS in order to conduct the head count exercise successfully.
Major Majid Waku, the 409 Brigade Political Commissar and the head of the enumeration team during the Baraza meeting said that the aim of the meeting was to mobilize the troops, sensitize and categories them according to their various groupings.
He urged commanders in their respective units to mobilize personnel’s and their families living in the barracks and to cooperate and support the UPDF enumerator team and supervisors with maximum discipline during the conduct of National census exercise.
  “Provide essential and honest facts to the government so that the state will reach a decision making that will facilitates the development of social economic policy making and planning that will benefit Ugandans adding that data given is confidential” he noted
Uganda Bureau of Statistics has recruited 114,460 enumerators and 18,483 supervisors across the country to conduct the exercise.
The enumeration will run till May 19TH under the theme, “It matters to be counted”
