Buganda Road Court has set May 29, 2024, to deliver its judgement in a case in which Kampala businesswoman Christine Nabukeera and her son Vicent Mawanda are charged with shop breaking and theft on her building.

The two were dragged to court by the chairman of New Generation traders, Kabanda John Kabanda who accused Christine Nabukeera and her son Vicent Mawanda of breaking into his shop D21 located on Nana center Building on Nabugabo road , stole his merchandise and money.

In November 2023, the court ordered the accused to defend themselves on the said charges which they allegedly committed between July and September 2020.

During the hearing of the case, prosecution adduced 9 witnesses who are all traders who claimed to have witnessed the said shop breaking on the 28th of July 2020 immediately after COVID-19 first lockdown.

Among the items allegedly stolen include; 350 million in cash, 43 sacks of shoes, his passport, record books, and 125,000 dollars.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Kabanda called all fellow trades to show up on May 29, 2024 as the judgment is being delivered saying that it would be a glorified day.

“She broke into my shop yet I had done nothing to her but she simply wanted to use me as a way of intimidating other traders to pay rent for the four months that they were under lockdown without working,” Kabanda claims.
