While nothing extra-ordinary is expected to come out of the Lugogo meeting today, developments in the course of the day will be some step in trying to solve the impasse between local soccer Fufa and league managers Uganda Super League (USL).

Not only will the sports ministry meet the two warring factions – Fufa, Uganda Super League (USL) and the topflight clubs, it’s also a day two senior officials from world body Fifa are expected in the country to assess the disturbing situation between the duo.

A communication from Zurich, Fifa headquarters, to Fufa indicates that development officer Ashford Mamelodi and Primo Corvaro from the Fifa Member Associations Committee are the officials due in today.

Fufa publicist Rogers Mulindwa confirmed the development in a statement while USL board boss Kavuma Kabenge denied knowledge of the two official’s knowledge.

“We are not aware yet but they are welcome,” he said,” We have been in touch with them in everything we have done. Even them know you can stop football from being played.”

Fufa and USL are at crossroads over the management of the league. USL accuse Fufa of abusing its power of a special shareholder in the company while the latter accuse the former of disrespecting football rules.

The league was run by Fufa until the 2009/2010 season after which a semi-autonomous body was formed, under the directive of Fifa, to manage competition’s affairs starting with the 2010/2011 campaign.
