The Electoral Commission (EC) announced on Monday a seven-day extension of the general update of the National Voters’ Register. The exercise, originally scheduled to end on February 11, will now continue until Monday, February 17, 2025.

EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama told reporters that this one-week extension is final.

“There will be no further extension. During the extension period, the exercise will continue to be conducted at update stations starting from 8 AM to 6 PM as has been the case,” he said.

The decision follows concerns raised by various stakeholders and a surge of Ugandans at EC update centers trying to meet the initial deadline.

The exercise is being conducted at update stations in every parish across the country, every day of the week, including weekends.

Eligible citizens can register, registered voters can apply for transfers to new voting locations, and voters can confirm their registration details, among other activities.
