The Ministry of Education has issued more guidelines to school heads as learning institutions open gradually.

Addressing journalists in Kampala, Alex Kakooza, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education noted that schools officially categorized as “Day and Boarding” will only operate after attaining a special compliance certification from the ministry.

This he says is because they have to ensure that the two categories of learners; that’s day scholars and boarding do not interact physically.

Kakooza has also urged all education institutions to support and participate in the Covid-19 surveillance mechanism to ensure early detection of infection and effective management of cases to prevent the spread of the disease.

Schools opened on the 1st March for non-candidate classes starting with semi-candidate classes (P6, S3, and S5).
