The opposition Forum for Democratic Change wants government to further extend the SimCard verification deadline.

This comes a day after government announced that phone users will now have upto May 19th instead of today the 20th April to validate their sim card registration using National IDs or risk having them deactivated.

The FDC spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda says setting a one week deadline for the exercise in the first place was a big mistake.

He now says before setting another deadline, government should instead work towards ensuring that all people meant to have national IDs get them.
