FUBA has today launched the FIBA Afrobasket Zone V U18 qualifiers which will be hosted by Uganda from 9th to 14th June, 2024.

According to FUBA General Secretary Hudson Ssegamwenge 10 countries have already confirmed participation.

The campaign that will be held at the Lugogo indoor arena will see Kenya, Somalia, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Eritrea, Burundi, Ethiopia and Sudan take part.

The tournament is for both genders but it is not yet clear which countries will field both teams.

The tournament will also act as a qualifier for the FIBA Afrobasket U18 that will take place in South Africa later this year.

Speaking at the launch event in Kampala, Ssegamwenge added that the main target for Uganda’s teams will be to qualify for the main event in South Africa with only one ticket available, for the winner of the Zone V preliminaries.
