Five men who were arrested at Nakivubo during the November 18th 2020 riot in relation to the arrest of Robert Kyagulanyi in Busoga Region have been again charged with attempted murder, after they allegedly tried to kill a police officer.

The suspects led by a  26 year old Emmanuel  Simbwa, a bodaboda rider and resident of Kirinya-Bweyogerere in Wakiso district have appeared before Buganda Road Court chief magistrate Miriam Okello Ayo and denied the offence of attempted murder.

The group had been earlier charged with aggravated robbery,  and were granted bail after spending the mandatory 6 months on remand without being prosecuted.

However, when they re-appeared  today for further mention of their case, prosecution’s Peter Mugisha  presented an amended charge sheet including the offence of attempted murder but Court matained their bail.

They were ordered to return to Court on October 26th as investigations continue.

Prosecution states that the suspects and others still on the 18th of November at Nakivubo road in the Kampala district, unlawfully attempted to cause the death of ASP Kasule Consilant.
