Former DP leader Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere dies at 90

Former Democratic Party (DP) leader, Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere has died at the age of 90. His son Ssemakula Ssemogerere and granddaughter Agnes Namakula have confirmed.

Namakula who is also the Rubaga LC3 woman councilor says Ssemogerere passed on this morning at his home in Rubaga.

He was born on 11th February 1932 in Kalangala district, Buganda Region.

In 1972, Ssemogerere replaced Benedicto Kiwanuka as the leader of the Democratic Party, having previously served as his Parliamentary Secretary

.Following the 1971 coup, Ssemogerere was in exile until 1979, when he returned as Minister of Labour.
