By Damali Mukhaye.

Cabinet has approved the proposal by government to take over ownership of the East African civil aviation Academy in Soroti.

Addressing journalists at media center, the government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo said the proposal that was brought by the ministry of works and transport will see government training all commercial pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers with in the country.

This he says will save government huge sums of money which would been used to train pilots abroad.

The takeover will also maximize the benefits from investments by the government since its inception in 1977.

The takeover comes at a time when Uganda is in the last stages of procuring its own planes to transport people.
