The non-teaching staff at Gulu University has refused to heed to calls to return to work, two weeks after they laid down their tools over salary enhancement.

They have vowed to carry on with the strike now entering the third week despite calls by the chairman of parliament’s education committee Micheal Kamara to return to work.

During their General Assembly held in Gulu, the non-teaching staffs have unanimously disregarded the government’s promise of to enhance theirsalaries in next financial year.

According to the chairperson of the striking non-teaching staff Mahmoud Khalid, they had scrutinized the statements issued by the government and found it had loop holes that must first be addressed.

These have joined their counterparts in in Makerere University, MUBS, Kyambogo and Mbarara University who have maintained their stand.
