The Ministry of Health has suspended vaccination camps for Hepatitis B by  private providers until they are cleared by the Ministry.

Addressing journalists today, the state minister for health in charge of general duties Sarah Opendi revealed that only 8 private health facilities in the country have so far been accredited to provide the hepatitis B vaccine.

These include; Nsambya Hospital, Kibuli Hospital, MengoHospital,  Rubaga Hospital, International Hospital Kampala (IHK),Norvik Hospital, Case Hospital and Nakasero Hospital.

Opendi has meanwhile directed the National Drug Authority to recall the 10 ML vial of hepatitis vaccine from Serum institute of India from all private facilities and also test the falsified products to establish its vaccine contents.

The general public is now advised to receive Hepatitis B vaccination from only the accredited private and government health facilities as investigations into the fake vaccine on the market continue.
