The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga says that it is high time the government started footing the bills of the girls who want to go abroad for domestic work and take full responsibility of monitoring their well-being.

This, the speaker said would help curb the rising cases of human trafficking.

Kadaga who has this afternoon received a petition from World Wide African Congress asking Parliament to reinstate a ban on domestic workers export, says that cases of cruel treatment of domestic workers in foreign countries must be directly handled by government.

She however says that the mass unemployment cases have made it hard to crack a whip on externalisation f labour

Meanwhile, the Congress Chairperson Mayambala W’Afrika  says that there is need to maintain the ban on exportation of labor and also to compel governments to establish a National Diaspora emergency fund to help in rescuing Ugandans from mistreatment and torture while doing domestic work.
