A 3rd year Makerere University Electrical Engineering student drowned in a swimming pool while trying to save a child in Mbale district.

Winifred Kabumbuli the university dean of students has identified the deceased as Emmanuel Wamono who has been a resident of Livingstone Hall.

Kabumbuli has extended condolences to the bereaved family and advised students to make use of the institution’s counseling services.

Wamono will be buried at his ancestral home at Bunabutye village in Mbale. Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson says investigation into the incident is on
