Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba says he is ready to defend the legality of tenure in office, which is being challenged.

His continued stay in office has been challenged in court, citing the expiry of his six-month appointment by the University Council, which was on temporary basis.

He was sued by the chairperson of Makerere university academic Staff Association, Dr Tanga Odoi who is also challenging the continued occupation of offices by Prof. Baryamureeba’s deputies; Prof. Tikodri Togboa and Prof. Lillian Tibatemwa.

Prof. Baryamureeba however says, he has the instruments of appointment from the university council and is in office legally.
