The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has tasked the defence minister to explain to Ugandans on Tuesday next week the fate of Ugandan soldiers deployed in Somalia.

This is after the Obongi County MP Hassan Kaps Fungaroo raised a matter of national importance concerning the status of the soldiers in Somalia taking into account renewed fighting between different sections of the security forces.

Some of the military units support President Mohamed Abdullahi’s bid to extend his mandate while others are opposed to him.

According to Fungaroo, if the US is withdrawing its forces from Afghanistan then Uganda should also consider the protection of the Ugandan soldiers and review the peace keeping mission and consequently bring them back home.
