Parliament has tasked ministry of finance to develop a criteria to be followed when appointing accounting officers.

This comes as accountability committees of parliament question why blacklisted accounting officers are not punished but rather simply transferred.

While meeting the Secretary to Treasury Keith Muhakanizi, committee members pinned Muhakanizi for defying their recommendations and instead re-deploy blacklisted accounting officers.

Muhakanizi has agreed to appear next week with the proposed new criteria of appointing these accounting officers.
