Mulago Hospital has announced that the operation to separate the conjoined twins will be done here and not referred abroad.

The twins were born 2 weeks ago at Kabale Referral Hospital to Rosette Tusiime.

Doctors have been conducting scans and tests to establish whether the operation can be done here and the hospital’s spokesperson Dan Kimosho says it is possible.

Kimosho however says the operation can only be done when the twins jointly weigh 10 kilo grams.

He says a team of 10 surgeons has been set aside to prepare and conduct the operation as soon as the babies acquire the required weight.

Earlier investigations showed that the twins share the liver.
