The Minister of Health says a technical team from her ministry will today carry out the final inspection tour of the 450-bed newly built Mulago maternity hospital to set a date for official opening.

In an interview with Daily Monitor, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng the health minister said the super-specialized maternity hospital is ready for use and today’s tour is to ensure that everything is in place as well as set an appropriate date for its official opening.

According to Tarek Eldakdoky the technical manager Arab Contractors, today’s tour paves way for the staff recruited to run the hospital to be trained on how to use the installed equipment.

The Mulago Maternal and neonatal super-specialized hospital is an eight-floor hospital designed specifically for women giving birth.

It is constructed using a $22million loan from the Islamic Development Bank.

It is constructed with facilities like Presidential Suites for female presidents to give birth, a helipad and VIP rooms among other facilities.
