President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated the president-elect of Kenya, William Ruto.

“On behalf of all Ugandans, I congratulate Your Excellency, William Ruto upon your election as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya,” he tweeted.

Museveni has reassured Ruto of Uganda’s commitment to continue working together with Kenya and push the regional and continental agenda.

“Further to my telephone call last night upon your victory, I wish to reassure you of Uganda’s commitment to continue partnering with Kenya in advancing regional and continental agenda through the East African Community, African Union, and other multilateral platforms,” he tweeted.

Museveni adds that the bilateral cooperation between Uganda and Kenya will score tremendous achievements.

About 50.49 per cent (7.18 million) of at least 14million Kenyans voted for Ruto in the decisive poll which now halts the ascendency of the Kenyatta-Odinga families since 1964 in the East African powerhouse.  The IEBC data shows about 6.94 million (48.5 per cent) polled for Odinga.
