President Yoweri Museveni has instituted a probe into a petition filed by a group of people to the UK House of Commons, protesting over the operations of Tullow Oil in the country.
During the NRM Caucus meeting held at State House, Entebbe last evening, President Museveni is said to have told the MPs that he had received information from the Police that a protest letter had been written to the Speaker of the House of Commons, protesting over Tullow’s interests in the oil sector in Uganda.
President Museveni is said to have told the legislators that he wants to first investigate the matter before naming those involved in the petition and possible action taken against them.
Addressing the media at Parliament, Acting Government Chief Whip, Daudi Migereko says this kind of petition could be bad for the petroleum industry, which is a great resource for all Ugandans.
The caucus vice chairman, David Bahati insists that this kind of publicity is in bad faith and can only be done by economic saboteurs.
