Government has invested over Shs7 trillion in trying to promote commercialised agriculture in the last 10 years.
Vincent Tumusiime, the Director, Socio-Economic Monitoring and Research at the Office of the President, says Shs7.7 trillion has been injected into agriculture commercialization between 2010-2021.

He adds that this was done so to improve household income and enable the majority of Ugandans who depend on subsistence to transit into commercial agriculture.

Sseveral policies, programs, and projects such as NAADS, NUSAF, CAIIP, and MATIP among others were formulated and implemented within the specified period.

Tumusiime says that even though a lot has been achieved, there is room to do better.

This was during a Pre-APEXpPlatform validation meeting on the report dubbed “Examining the impact of commercialization of agriculture in local economic development for socioeEconomic transformation of Uganda over the period 2010 to 2021”.

The meeting was held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Kampala.
