The Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa has said that Parliament cannot interfere with the internal affairs of the opposition Democratic Party (DP).

This followed a concern from Buikwe south MP, Dr Lulume Bayiga, member of the DP who presented a statement on the state of affairs in the Democratic Party (DP) during plenary on Thursday.

According to Bayiga, following a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the NRM and DP which eventually led to the appointment of their president Norbert Mao as Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, ‘DP members are now wondering where to place their representatives in the House.

He said that because of the appointment, the activities of the party have been paralysed and demanded that Mao presents before Parliament a copy of the agreement to enable the office of the Leader of Opposition to take a decision on the matter.

However, Tayebwa advised the DP members who are discontented to follow the party constitution to resolve their grievances.
