By Tom Brian Angurini.

Uganda Railways Cooperation is set to revamp railway services between the headquarters in Kampala and Port Bell within one month.

Speaking exclusively to KFM, the cooperation’s head of operations AbubakerOchaki says they are revamping it because it offers access to the Port Bell-Mwanza and Dar-es-Salam Tanzania route.

Ochaki says the revamping of Southern route will cost them Shs2 billion, while the entire rail operations will cost Shs300 billion  and this will bring trade boom as both Kenya and Tanzania routes will be open.

He adds that their next plan is to revamp the Malaba-Kampala, Tororo-Gulu and Port Bell- headquarters routes as the Kampala-Kasese will be covered under the Standard Gauge Railway.
