Monsignor Charles Kasibante

By Benjamin Jumbe

The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda has confirmed that the earlier planned second edition of the presidential debate will not happen due to a lack of funds to organize the event.

In 2016, the country hosted its first presidential debates where candidates were able to address the nation on what they intended to do for the country if they were elected presidents.

On the 6th of November, the council in partnership with the elders’ forum and inter-party for dialogue announced that the country will be holding its second presidential debate to give a balanced platform to all the 11 presidential candidates to tell the country what they have in stock for them.

Addressing the media today Monsignor Charles Kasibante revealed that this will not happen following failure to raise the needed funds to hold the event.
