Raila Odinga rejects election results, to pursue legal options

Kenya’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga Tuesday afternoon “without reservation rejected the election results announced August 15 as Kenya’s electoral body proclaimed William Ruto as president-elect.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chief Wafula Chebukati proclaimed that Ruto won with 50.49 per cent of the vote against veteran politician Odinga’s 48.5 per cent .

“The figures are null and void and must be quashed by the courts of law. What we saw yesterday was a travesty and a blatant disregard of the constitution of Kenya by Mr Chebukati,” Raila told a press conference at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on Tuesday.
