While most schools across the country await official communication and guidelines from the ministry of education on what to do to protect learners from the Ebola virus disease, some have started taking mitigation measures.

Schools are among the places that attract huge crowds, necessitating their heads to ensure the safety of learners under their custody.

Some private schools manning boarding sections had by yesterday moved to restrict exit of students from the school premise as well as limiting entry of visitors.

The headmistress of Immaculate Heart Girl’s School, Sr. Gladys Kachope says they have so far sensitised their students and teachers about the outbreak and on how to observe personnel hygiene.

The head teacher of Kololo Secondary School, Edward Kanonya says they are going to enforce hand washing among students using the infrastructure that was put in place during Covid-19.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Emmanuel Ainebyona yesterday said that the ministry had reviewed the existing guidelines for Ebola prevention that will soon be passed on to the ministry’s focal person in charge of schools.
