Security experts have downplayed a proposal for the government to negotiate with the Allied Democratic Forces rebels.

Bugiri municipality MP Asuman Basalirwa, proposed this before parliament last week saying this was the best way to address the matter since the group’s motive for attacking Uganda is still unknown.

This was after government maintained that the ADF are behind the bombings in Kampala and other parts of the country, despite Islamic State claiming responsibility for the attacks.

However Fred Egesa, a security expert and private Investigator has downplayed the proposal saying negotiating with a group that is not ambitious is not a wise move, because ADF does not clearly state its demands and that it also attacks other countries besides Uganda.

He advises government to only simplify life for those arrested for terrorism, to inspire others to surrender, criticising government for killing suspects.
