The High Court in Soroti is set to hold a special session in memory of the Soroti Magistrates Court Chief Magistrate, Margaret Aanyu.

Her Worship Aanyu passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 after a short illness.

According to Soroti Resident Judge, Dr Henry Peter Adonyo, the session, which has been okayed by the Chief Justice, will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the Court grounds in honor of the late Aanyu for her 14 years of dedicated judicial service.

Justice Adonyo adds that it is the duty of the Judiciary family in the Circuit plus the entire Teso fraternity to bid her a befitting farewell since Soroti was her last court of reference.

He said the programme will include church service, public viewing of the body, and eulogies from various justice participants, adding that the body will remain within the court premises overnight, the first of its kind in the history of the Court.

She will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Kasoka Village, Bukedea District
