By Samuel Ssebuliba:

The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga is set to meet party Chief Whips to discuss modalities of age limit consultations.

She has also appealed to the police to allow opposition MPs consult their constituents about the controversial matter without any interference.

This comes President Yoweri Museveni plans to meet the NRM Caucus on Friday this week to discuss the same.

One of the key issues expected for discussion is the petition by nine NRM MPs who have challenged the president to convene the party’s top organs to consider and adopt a common position on amending the constitution to lift the age limit for presidential candidates.

The Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs will on October 31st begin proceedings about the Constitution Amendment Bill 2017.
