Non- teaching staffs at Makerere University, Makerere Business School and Mbarara University have this morning resolved to continue with their sit down strike.

The Government had resolved to increase their salaries in the next financial year and also pay their arrears in salary increment for this year in the next financial year.

The chairperson of Public Universities Non-Teaching Staff Executives Forum, Jackson Betihama says the staff has resolved to go back to work only after government increases their salaries this financial year.

Betihama said yesterday afternoon that the staff at Kyambogo University will have their meeting to take a stand on the strike.

Also non-teaching staff in public universities have been urged to accept and get back to work

The appeal comes from the chairperson of parliament’s education committee William Kwemara after government committed to increase the salaries in the next financial year.

Speaking to Kfm radio, Kwemara said the non-teaching staff must trust government and get back to work.

But the non-teaching staff in Makerere University, MUBS and Mbarara University resolved to continue with the strike until their money is paid this financial year.
