By Benjamin Jumbe

President Museveni has revealed that Uganda does not need United Nations to defend it.

This remark was made by President Museveni at the launch of Uganda’s first clinical trial of the Covid 19 UBV -01N treatment drug at Mulago.

He says while the rest of the African countries are defended by the UN, Uganda is self-sufficient in defense.

Meanwhile, the President said Africans should stop the slave mentality of waiting for Europeans to find solutions to their problems and diseases.

The senior presidential advisor on epidemics and pandemics Dr Monica Musenero as the ministry of health launched the first clinical trial of the COVID 19 UBV-01N therapeutic drug says Uganda has significant research infrastructure but it has not been coordinated to give the country products.

Dr Musenero says a study carried out in the process shows that while the country has highly skilled scientists, they lacked orientation to product development.

She now says through the presidential scientific initiative on epidemics, they have started developing a breed of scientists focusing on product development.
