Former presidential candidate, Dr. Kizza Besigye, claims that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government is currently at its weakest point and that Uganda is ready for change.

He made the remarks at the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction’s National Council Meeting held on Wednesday in Kampala. Besigye urged all change-seeking forces to organize themselves and push for the transformation that Ugandans have long desired.

Meanwhile, the faction’s interim president, Erias Lukwago, presented a report to the Council highlighting the progress and actions undertaken by the party since their last Delegates Conference in September 2023. During this conference, the FDC Najjanankumbi leadership led by Eng. Patrick Amuriat was suspended.

Lukwago noted that the Party has, among other things, conducted structure-building exercises from village to district level across the country, handled legal matters with Najjanankumbi, and strengthened its legal team for the said purpose.

During the same meeting, the leaders agreed to postpone the Delegates Conference scheduled for May 19, 2024, by two months.
