The Uganda Bankers Association says it is to meet some commercial banks and hold discussions on measures being undertaken to mitigate risks of cyber-attacks.
This comes a day after Computer Giant Microsoft announced that it has stopped supporting the Operating system Windows XP.
Microsoft says it will only offer technical and security support for governments and businesses that pay for custom support, to help them buy time before they upgrade to more advanced operating systems like Windows 7 and 8.
The Executive Director of the Uganda Bankers Association Emmanuel Kikoni says he has not been aware of this although he adds that they will discuss the matter with commercial Banks.
It is estimated that 28 percent of Desktop Computers around the world use Windows XP, and the move by Microsoft will have adverse effects not only to individuals, but also governments, banks, businesses, and organisations that fail to upgrade.
