The Ndorwa West Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) football tournament medals have been stolen by unidentified people.

The tournament, which was concluded yesterday at Janan Luwum Memorial School Kamuganguzi playground in Ndorwa West county of Kabale District, ended with participants leaving without their medals.

The final match between Kibuuga Sub-county Football Team and Kahungye Sub-county Football Team ended with a 1-0 score.

According to Simon Agaba, the tournament’s chief sponsor, the medals were stolen from a parked vehicle that also carried the trophy, and PLU T-shirts.

Eight teams from Ndorwa West competed in the tournament.

Despite the theft, the winners received one million shillings, and the second runners-up were awarded five hundred thousand shillings.

Agaba, expressed that this incident is a hindrance to sports and talent development.

He believes it was a planned move, noting that the goons were armed with pangas.

“In the beginning there was a group of people who came and stole our medals, it is a big challenge because these are the things we had prepared to issue at the end of the game, we saw it a as a big challenge because we had no enough security,” Mr. Agaba said.
