UPDF Commander in Chief makes changes

The Commander in Chief of the armed forces, H.E President Yoweri Museveni has made changes in the Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF) leadership.

In the new changes, the President has appointed Brigadier Dick Prit Olum the country’s Defence Advisor in Kinshasa in DR. Congo replacing Brig. Geoffrey ‘Taban’ Kyabihende who passed away in early August this year.

Brig Dick Olum, has been the Commanding Officer of the 3Division based in Moroto, since April 2015 and also served as the commander of the UPDF contingent in Somalia from June 2013. to Nov 2014

Brigadier Richard Otto who has been UPDF’s Contingent Commander of the African Union Regional Task Force (AU-RTF) is now the new 3 Division Commander.

Meanwhile, Colonel Omero Tingira Irumba who has been a defence attache in Somalia has been sent to Khartoum as a Defence Adviser, and is to be replaced by Brigadier Joseph Lucky Kidega who leaves 1st Division command to become the new Defence Adviser in Mogadishu Somalia.
